The Foundation manages three residential housing complexes for the blind and is working on the development of future projects.<\/p>\n<p>In Quebec, nearly 100,000 individuals are visually impaired and aged 15 and over. Two thirds live in the Montreal area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-6\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>Statistics Canada estimates that the vast majority of disabled people live below the poverty line and have an annual income under $10,000. In addition, 75% spend more than half their income on housing.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of our units are subsidized and rent is calculated based on our tenants\u2019 income. Others are affordable. In addition, environment is of paramount importance for the visually impaired. Once familiar with their environment, the blind wish to remain within it. Note that all personal information provided remains confidential and the online registration site is secured.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Our Complexes<\/h2>\n\n<table id=\"tablepress-7\" class=\"tablepress tablepress-id-7\">\n<tbody class=\"row-hover\">\n<tr class=\"row-1\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\"><img src=\"https:\/\/fondationdesaveugles.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/habitation-habitoeil-montreal.jpg\" alt=\"Habitation Habitoeil Montr\u00e9al\" width=\"275\" height=\"182\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-6726\" \/><br \/>\n<h4><strong>R\u00e9sidence Habitoeil Montr\u00e9al<\/strong><\/h4>In 1994, a beautiful building with 17 adapted units, the Complexe Armand Houle, became the pride of the Foundation. This complex offers tenants exceptional quality of life and comfort at HLM pricing (low-rental housing). It is located in T\u00e9treaultville, east of Montreal, has three sextuplexes and an interior courtyard, and is located near a community garden.<\/td><td class=\"column-2\"><\/td><td class=\"column-3\"><img src=\"https:\/\/fondationdesaveugles.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/habitation-habitoeil-rosemont-1.jpg\" alt=\"Habitation Habitoeil Rosemont\" width=\"275\" height=\"182\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-6727\" \/><br \/>\n<h4><strong>Les Habitations Habitoeil Rosemont<\/strong><\/h4>In 1997, under the \u201cAcc\u00e8sLogis Qu\u00e9bec\u201d program, the Foundation, with the participation of the City of Montreal and the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019habitation du Qu\u00e9bec, acquired two buildings on 39th Avenue in Rosemont called Les Habitations Habitoeil Rosemont. In May 2000, after major renovations, the Quebec Foundation for the Blind was able to provide 28 additional adapted units close by to all services.<br \/>\n<\/td><td class=\"column-4\"><\/td><td class=\"column-5\"><img src=\"https:\/\/fondationdesaveugles.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/habitation-coup-doeil-1.jpg\" alt=\"Habitation Coup-d&#039;oeil\" width=\"275\" height=\"182\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-6723\" \/><h4><strong>Les Habitations Coup d\u2019Oeil<\/strong><\/h4>The Foundation worked for nearly 10 years on a third low-rental, adapted-housing project. Construction finally began in March 2014 and the first tenants took possession of their apartments in the spring of 2015. This project provided 31 additional units, for a total of 76! It is located near the Olympic Stadium, the Viau and Pie IX subway stations, the YMCA, the Promenade Ontario, etc.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-2\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\"><img src=\"https:\/\/fondationdesaveugles.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/LHFAQ-PB.jpg\" alt=\"Les Habitations de la FAQ-Pierre-Bernard\" width=\"275\" height=\"182\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-6726\" \/><br \/>\n<h4><strong>Les Habitations de la FAQ-Pierre-Bernard<\/strong><\/h4>The construction of our 4th building was completed in the fall of 2018. This new 12-unit 3\u00bd-unit housing project is also located in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. It is close to all services and main bus routes, It is also a few minutes from the Honor\u00e9-Beaugrand metro station.<\/td><td class=\"column-2\"><\/td><td class=\"column-3\"><img src=\"https:\/\/fondationdesaveugles.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/HFAQ-307-HDR-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Les Habitations de la FAQ-Sherbrooke\" width=\"275\" height=\"182\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-6723\" \/><h4><strong>Les Habitations de la FAQ-Sherbrooke<\/strong><\/h4>Our 5th complex, also located in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district (a few streets from our two other buildings) includes 39 3 \u00bd, 4 \u00bd and 5 \u00bd units. Construction was completed in December 2020. <\/td><td class=\"column-4\"><\/td><td class=\"column-5\"><img src=\"https:\/\/fondationdesaveugles.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/6.jpg\" alt=\"Les Habitations de la FAQ-Grande-All\u00e9e\" width=\"275\" height=\"182\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-6723\" \/><h4><strong>Les Habitations de la FAQ-Grande-All\u00e9e<\/strong><\/h4> Our 6th building is located on the south shore at the Longueuil and St-Hubert limits on Grande-All\u00e9e Boulevard. This building comprises 23 units consisting of 3 1\/2 and 4 1\/2 units. Construction was completed in September 2024. With this building, we are proud to offer 150 low-cost, adapted housing units.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Future projects<\/h2>\n<p>The success of our latest project and the continued need for housing for people with visual impairments encourages us to work on new projects.<\/p>\n<p>In all cases, if you have visual impairment and a low income, we encourage you to register on our list of applicants to give yourself the best chance of having adapted and low-rental accommodation in your favour.
