The Adapted Games

The Foundation is proud to sponsor the “Comité des jeux adaptés” that offers people with visual impairment different games adapted to their condition. The committee provides a wide selection of games for all age groups (board, card, and patience games, etc.).

The main objectives of this chapter for different age groups are to:

  • Teach the blind or partially sighted child to socialize with his sighted or visually impaired peers through board games.
  • Stimulate the child to develop game strategies.
  • Teach the child to lose or win.
  • Foster teamwork.
  • Enable visually impaired teens and adults to share certain social activities with their sighted or visually impaired peers.
  • Develop strategies and increase their cultural knowledge.
  • Develop their manual skills.
  • Develop a healthy sense of competition.
  • Encourage youths to read and understand the rules of games, whether simple or complex.
  • Allow youths to develop and improve their mental representation of travelling along a game board.
  • Empower players with regards to board games: storage, verification of game pieces, etc.

Les Tactilivres

The Foundation is pleased to be associated with a project that encourages the stimulation of tactile reading for blind children, from newborns up to age five.

Soutien aux projets les tactilivres bulles

The habit of touching tactile books from an early age is certainly an important factor in the development of touch, and equally so for language development and cognitive skills. It is why we want to offer children original books as well as adaptations of already popular books.

This project is made possible through the collaboration of Louise Comtois, Lise Simard, and Joanne Thibodeau, and the financial participation of the Institut Nazareth et Louis Braille.

For more information on the different packages available, and to place an order, contact Louise Comtois by phone at 450-538-0186.

Large-Numbers Calendar

Produits adaptés Calendrier à gros chiffres Cercles

The Quebec Foundation for the Blind is proud to have created a calendar with large numbers for people with vision problems. Big print and high contrast facilitate reading for the elderly or semi-blind. Contact information for various organizations in the community of visual impairment is also included.

  • Our calendar is available everywhere and for free.
  • It is possible to download and print it in the desired size from home or at a print shop or library. It is also possible to only print a single month.
